Jasmine Dixon, Norman Townsel III

Jasmine, 26, works in administration for DCPS. Norman, 31, is a contract administrator. They live in Silver Spring.

The Main Event: The couple said their vows Sept. 22, 2012, with 120 guests. A sorority sister of Jasmine’s from Zeta Phi Beta officiated.

How They Met: During a summer leadership program at their university, Miami University of Ohio.

First Date: When, before graduation, they went to a Shell station to buy lottery tickets and ice cream. “I guess I was hungry and disillusioned with college that day,” Norman says.

Ah, Memories: “I literally cried during the entire ceremony,” Jasmine says. “I kept trying to give him the ‘bride in love’ look so he would cry, too, but alas, no.”

Most Surprising Moment: “So many people chipped in to make our day so special without our asking,” Jasmine says. “It felt like everyone there had known each other for years.”

Wedding Jitters: “I had a nightmare that we would have no food on the wedding day,” Jasmine says. “We actually sent guests home with food and alcohol,” Norman says.
