THE DISTRICT

65-Year Sentence in Rosenbaum Murder

Photo courtesy New York TimesIT WAS AN EMOTIONAL DAY in D.C. Superior Court, where the son of slain New York Times journalist David Rosenbaum told a judge he couldn't "imagine a punishment that would fit" the January 2006 crime that led to the death of his father. As The Post's Henri E. Cauvin reports this afternoon, Daniel Rosenbaum was speaking to the judge, but was staring at 43-year-old Percey Jordan, who was convicted of delivering the blow to the head of the retired scribe and editor on a quiet Upper Northwest street.

Jordan was sentenced to 65 years in prison. His younger cousin, Michael Hamlin, was sentenced to 26 years in prison last week for his role in the attack. Hamlin had pleaded not guilty and testified against his cousin for a lighter sentence.

The Rosenbaum murder highlighted a number of failures in the District's emergency and medical response.
