Conn. Ave. Work to Move South Through Dupont
Map It:LAST MONTH, D.C. work crews spent the overnight hours milling and resurfacing Connecticut Avenue through Woodley Park. (The work shook this writer's apartment and kept us from getting sleep for a few days.)
Now that drivers on that stretch of the busy thoroughfare are enjoying a smooth new road and pedestrians have newly repaired sidewalks, the work will shift south to the other side of the William Howard Taft Bridge through tony Kalorama, on down through Dupont Circle to Farragut Square. (Click on "View Larger Map" to see exactly where.)
According to the D.C. Department of Transportation, the work starts Oct. 10 and is scheduled to last a month. Sidewalk repairs will take place between 9:30 a.m and 3:30 p.m. The grinding and roadway resurfacing starts at 7 p.m. and will go through 5 a.m.
Let's just hope the sidewalk work won't have as big of an impact on Connecticut Avenue business in Dupont just as the reconstruction of P Street NW has had on the commercial strip there.
