Flesh, Frights and Fire: Bump 'n' Grindhouse
IT WAS GYRATING-ROOM-ONLY this summer at Coney Island's Sideshow by the Seashore when Bump 'n' Grindhouse got onstage with its uh! and its huh! and it's uh-uh-uh!
Now, the burlesque revue comes to the Arlington Cinema 'N' Drafthouse (also known as "Arlington-by-the-Sea"), where tassels will twirl, hips will swirl and both boys and girls can indulge their taste for cheapo movie gore.
The show brings together two beloved and nearly lost forms: the art of the tease and the bucket of (really, really cheap) blood. A toothsome trio of New York-based ecdysiasts star as the doomed heroines of a series of forgotten camp classics, and each of their performances mimics a movie trailer.
Not since the days of Herschel Gordon Lewis has so much flesh met so much blood and brought so much entertainment to so many people. If silly films and serious strippers are your thing, catch Precious Little in "Disco Zombie," Legs Malone in "Infested" and Clams Casino in "Southern Fried Witch."
Fire-eater and emcee Lady Aye keeps the action on the boil and her tonsils aflame and Neil O'Fortune does voice-overs so over-the-top, he'd make the "In a world ..." guy throw down his mic and go home.
Leave your taste at the door and keep your hands where we can see 'em, and remember: Sometimes silly things happen to sexy people.
